El Cabildo de Buenos Aires, como se conoce al edificio que albergaba la institución del mismo nombre, era la sede capitular de la administración colonial del Reino de España en la ciudad de Buenos Aires, que cobró importancia al designarse capital del Virreinato del Río de la Plata creado en 1776. Situado en la calle Bolívar 65, ocupa un solar asignado por Juan de Garay en 1580 frente a la Plaza de Mayo, el centro fundacional de la ciudad. Durante la Revolución de mayo de 1810 se pronunció en él la formación de la Primera Junta, órgano de gobierno subrogante de la autoridad virreinal y el primero en el territorio con fines republicanos y veladamente independentistas. El edificio, declarado Monumento Histórico Nacional desde el año 1933, fue objeto de sucesivas alteraciones, fijándose su aspecto actual en el año 1940. Hoy alberga el Museo Histórico Nacional del Cabildo y de la Revolución de Mayo.

The Cabildo of Buenos Aires (Cabildo de Buenos Aires), is the building who saved the institution of the same name, was the capitular seat of the colonial administration of the Spanish Kigndom in the Buenos Aires city, that adquired importancy when it was designed capital city of the Viceroyalty of the Río de la Plata created in 1776. Located in the street Bolivar 65, it takes a site asigned by Juan de Garay in 1580 in front of the May's Square (Plaza de Mayo), the fundational center of the city.
During the 1810's May's Revolution (Revolución de Mayo) was pronounced in it the members of the First Comittee (Primera Junta), way of surrogate goverment of the viceroyal autority and the first in the place with republican ways and veiledly pro-independence. The building, was declared Historical National Monument since 1933, was object of sucesive modifications, fixing its actual appereance in 1940. Today it lodges the Cabildo's Historical National Museum and of the May's Revolution.
